Transferring between Romanian medical faculties

The timing

Resits run in the first week of September. Second resits run in the second week. Transfer windows close around the third.

That sequence is the whole problem. A student who fails in June waits for the resit, fails again, and starts looking at transfers in the week the windows are closing. By then the receiving faculty needs documents that take days to produce.

One subject is not worth a year. But finding that out in the fourth week of September usually costs one.

The regulations are not the same everywhere

Romanian medical faculties operate under the same national framework and different internal regulations. Two examples from Bucharest, both published by the universities themselves:

At Carol Davila, one failed subject in the first year ends the enrolment. In later years it means repeating the year. Credits are not carried forward.

At Titu Maiorescu, up to 15 credits of academic debt can be carried into the following year.

Same city, same degree, different consequence for the same result. Most people telling you about this have read one of the two regulations.

What a transfer needs

Your enrolment record from the current faculty.

Your transcript of completed credits and the syllabus for each subject you passed. Credit recognition is decided by comparing syllabi, which is why the syllabus matters as much as the grade.

The receiving faculty’s agreement. This is the part nobody can promise you.

For entry into an upper year, the gap between what you have completed and what that year requires is what decides it. A gap of more than 60 credits is generally not bridgeable, which is why transfers into years five and six almost never happen.
